Health & Safety - Is it safe for me to touch the animals?

All animals naturally carry a range of bugs, some of which can be passed on to humans, where they may cause ill health. One of these bugs is Ecoli O157, which can cause severe illness. Pregnant women need to take particular care.

Please take a look at our Animal Contact Advice to keep yourself, your family and your children safe.

Food and Drink - Do you have a cafe onsite?

Our Greenway Cafe is open for hot and cold food and drinks, cakes and snacks throughout our open season, which runs from February-November.

We will also be offering takeaway drinks and food from our Snack Stop which is located in between the playground and the picnic barn. Please note our snack stop will only be open at peak times (weekends & school holidays) between 10am-2pm and dependent on weather. Opening times may vary when we are particularly busy.

Food and Drink - Can I bring my own picnic?

Yes, we have lots of outdoor picnic benches and grass areas by the playground where you can eat your picnic outside.

We also have indoor picnic barns where you are welcome to tuck into your packed lunch. 

Please can we ask that customers do not take food past the other side of the brook, into the area of the farm where the animals are located.

Food and Drink - Are we allowed to visit the cafe without paying for the farm?

Yes, you are more than welcome to use the café without paying for the farm, we have both sit in and take away options available.

Food and Drink - Do you cater for specific dietary requirements?

Yes, we have vegetarian and vegan options. If you have any allergies please speak to a member of staff who will be able to help.

Accessibility - How accessible is Standalone Farm?

We’ve worked hard to make as much of our farm as easily accessible as possible. We are a working farm and some areas may have uneven or muddy terrain, especially in the winter months. We have step free access to the main building, gift shop, Greenway Café and courtyard. There are disabled toilets onsite, located just outside the shop as you enter. We offer disabled parking bays and our staff are on hand to help.

Accessibility - Do you have disabled facilities onsite?

Yes, we have a disabled toilet located just outside the shop as you enter.

Accessibility - What do I need to bring to prove my disability or carers status?

Our disabled tickets are charged at the standard ticket price (£9.00 for adults and £8.00 for a child ticket).

Carers can enter the farm for free when booked alongside a paid disabled ticket. We accept the following valid photographic identification:

Carer’s Passport

DLA letter shown alongside photo ID (drivers’ licence or passport)

PIP letter shown alongside photo ID (drivers’ licence or passport)

You can register as a carer with Carers in Herts, which will give you access to a carer’s passport (photographic ID for unpaid carers) and a whole host of benefits. To find out more go to www.carersinherts.org.uk

Annual Pass - I have an Annual Pass, can I just turn up and visit?

We are now closed for the winter season and will reopen again in February 2024.

Yes, Annual Passholders are welcome to arrive at the farm any time they wish during our open hours (Monday-Sunday 10am until 5pm during our open season, which runs from February-November). Please have your Annual Pass details to hand and a member of staff will be happy to check you in on arrival.

Annual Pass - Are your annual pass cards named?

Yes, all members on the annual pass are named, and you cannot share your membership with anyone that’s not on the pass, we give out one pass card for a family membership and require a photo for each person on the pass.

Single passes are also named and require a photo to go on the pass card.

Annual Pass - Who can I have on my family pass?

The family pass is for two adults and up to three children.

Annual Pass - How does the childminder pass work?

The childminder pass is for one registered childminder, and six unnamed children - please note that we do require a valid Ofsted number for this pass type.

Annual Pass - Is the Annual Pass refundable?

No, unfortunately we do not refund annual passes, this is also stated in our terms and conditions when you sign up.

Payment and Entry - How do I get a refund?

Unfortunately our tickets are non-refundable.

Tickets are only transferable to an alternative date or time if you contact Standalone Farm directly via email  info@standalonefarm.com at least 48 hours before the date you originally booked to visit – the date will be on your booking confirmation. We cannot guarantee that we can change the date of your visit but we will make reasonable efforts to do so as long as you contact us more than 48 hours before your scheduled visit date.

Please note we will only change the date or time of your ticket for certain unforeseen circumstances. 

Payment and Entry - Can I swap my ticket for another date?

Tickets are only transferable to an alternative date or time if you contact Standalone Farm directly via email info@standalonefarm.com at least 48 hours before the date you originally booked to visit – the date will be on your booking confirmation. We cannot guarantee that we can change the date of your visit but we will make reasonable efforts to do so as long as you contact us more than 48 hours before your scheduled visit date.

Yes! Visitors are welcome to arrive at the farm and pay for entry on the day. Please note we are open 10am-5pm daily, Monday-Sunday during our open season, which runs from February-November. This year we will be open in November on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays too.

We are closed for the winter months between December and January and reopen for February half-term.

Payment and Entry - Why do you charge a booking fee for online payments and is the booking fee refundable?

We apply a £1.50 booking fee per online transaction at the checkout. This fee is nonrefundable.

We want to provide the best and most convenient ticket booking service for our customers. Your booking fee enables us to ensure that you will enjoy the best possible customer experience when you buy tickets from us and allows us to offer online tickets.

Payment and Entry - How long can I stay?

The farm is open between 10am - 5pm daily you are welcome to arrive any time during this period.

Payment and Entry - What time is last entry?

Last entry into the Farm is 4.30pm.

Payment and Entry - Can I bring my dog?

Sorry, no we don’t allow dogs on the farm as we have a large amount of animals on site.

Dog walkers are welcome to sit at the benches on the Greenway Café patio, outside the farm.

General - Can I smoke onsite?

No, we are a children's venue and do not allow smoking or vaping onsite, we do have a couple of smoking bins in the car park.

General - Is there car parking?

We’re just over three miles drive away from A1(M) junction 10, clearly marked on road signs off the A507. Our postcode is SG6 4JN. Free car parking is available on our farm.

General - Can we use public transport to get to you?

By Train
We’re about one mile north-west of Letchworth Garden City Railway Station. On a nice summer’s day, it’s a 20 to 30 minute walk; a short bus ride (see below) or a few pounds in a taxi.

There’s a bus stop just down the road from our farm, served by Uno’s 625 and Arriva’s 53. Services are limited, check times before travelling at www.intalink.org.uk

We’re on the Garden City Greenway route. We’ve got plenty of secure bicycle parking here too!

Raffle Prizes - Can I apply for a raffle prize?

Our raffle prize system is currently under review, and we aren’t giving out any prizes at the moment. Please keep an eye on our website for updates on this.

Raffle Prizes - I have won a raffle prize, how do I redeem it?

The prize is redeemable for one day pass to Standalone Farm and is valid for two adults and three children. When you visit the Farm if you show your free family day pass when you arrive, we will take this and let you through.

It is worth noting that the pass cannot be split or exchanged for money.

Events - Can I buy an event ticket onsite at Standalone Farm?

Customers must pre-book tickets on our website ahead of the event. This is so we can control the capacities and get your details in case we need to contact you about the event.

On the day of the event, tickets will be scanned either via a barcode on your phone or a printed copy of the ticket.

Every person attending will need to book a ticket online even if they are a free ticket such as an Annual Passholder or carer. This will help us manage the number of visitors on site. Please book tickets for everyone in your party. For example, a family of 4 will need to select 4 tickets.

If you are not an Annual Passholder when you purchase tickets to one of our events, you’ll also be able to access and enjoy the Standalone Farm for the day (as long as the event is taking place during our open season from February to November).

Events - Are event tickets refundable?

Unfortunately, our event tickets are non-refundable. Your statutory rights are not affected.

Events - Where will the event be held?

Our events take place in our various barns, fields and other areas of the farm. Please see the full description under each event when booking.

Each event will have a limited capacity giving ticketholders a more personal, interactive experience and the chance to get up close with many of the characters. Our events aim to be educational, interactive and fun!

Events - How long are your events?

The majority of our events will be 30 minutes with a photo opportunity at the end. However, some events may differ in duration so please refer to the ‘find out more’ section under each event.

Events - I am an Annual Passholder, can I just turn up to an event?

We kindly ask all Annual Passholders to pre-book tickets online, ahead of the event. Please book tickets for everyone in your party. For example, a family of 4 will need to select 4 tickets.

Annual Passholders will receive an exclusive Passholder price when booking. To book a ticket under an Annual Pass you will need to enter your pass number. When attending an event you’ll need to display your ticket and valid Annual Pass or have your Annual Pass number to hand on arrival.

Events - How accessible is the polytunnel?

We have disabled parking bays onsite, next to our polytunnel, and our team will be on hand throughout the event if assistance is needed.

We’ve worked hard to make as much of our farm as easily accessible as possible. We are a working farm and some areas may have uneven or muddy terrain, especially in the winter months. The Vegetable Patch event space and polytunnel is in a field in front of the main farm building and has grassy, uneven terrain, with a slope leading into the space.

Once inside Standalone Farm, we have step free access to the main building, gift shop, Greenway Café and courtyard. There are disabled toilets onsite, located just outside the shop as you enter. We offer disabled parking bays and our staff are on hand to help.

Birthday Parties - What's included in the package?

Birthday Parties - How much does the package cost?

For valid Family Annual Passholders, the cost is £23.95 per child, this includes one free accompanying adult per paying child. (To receive the discounted rate the person booking must hold a valid Family Annual Pass in their name).

For non-passholders the cost is £24.95 per child, this also includes one free accompanying adult per paying child.

For additional adults we charge £5 per person, we can take this additional payment on the day, any passholders are free of charge.

Birthday Parties - Do you have a minimum requirement for children attending?

We require there to be a minimum of 10 paying children, and a maximum of 20 paying children.

Birthday Parties - Do children under two count as guests, in terms of numbers?

If the under 2’s are going to have food and want a party bag then they will need to pay and count as one of the paying children, but if they aren’t then they will be free. 

Birthday Parties - When can I book?

We have two timeslots available- 10:30am setup for a 11:00am start until 1:00pm OR 2:00pm setup for a 2:30pm start until 4:30pm. (We allow half an hour at the start for setup).

We have availability for birthday parties during weekends in term time only, as we use the party barn for other events during the school holidays. We also don’t take any bookings during the week due to school and group visits. 

Birthday Parties - What time do I need to leave the barn?

We kindly ask that you vacate the Party Barn at the end of your allocated time slot (10:30-1pm parties = 1pm, and 2-4:30pm parties=4:30pm). This is so we can prepare and clean for the afternoon or next day of parties.

Birthday Parties - What is included in the children's buffet?

Children’s cold buffet

Includes selection of:

  • Ham or Cheese Sandwiches (2 triangles per child)
  • 4 cocktail sausages per child
  • Animal Crisps
  • Cucumber
  • Peppers
  • Cheese sticks (one per child)
  • Cookies (one per child)
  • Jugs of squash & Water

 

Children’s Hot Buffet

Includes selection of:

(Total of 2 slices of 12inch pizza per child – 1 slice garlic bread each) 

  • Pepperoni pizza
  • Cheese Pizza
  • Garlic Bread
  • Peppers
  • Cucumber
  • Cookies (one per child)
  • Jugs of Squash & water

*The Pizzas will be served over a 15-minute period due to cooking time.

 

If you think your little farmers will still be hungry please add on extras:

  • 1 12 inch Pepperoni Pizza- £12
  • 1 12 inch Cheese Pizza - £11
  • Ham sandwich (whole sandwich – 4 triangles) £2.00
  • Cheese sandwich (whole sandwich – 4 tringles) 2.00

*For any special dietary requirements, please let us know at least two weeks in advance of the booking*

The buffet menu is subject to change as some items may not be available from our suppliers. Where possible we will swap items for similar products.

Birthday Parties - Can I bring a birthday cake?

Yes, you are welcome to bring a birthday cake along with you.

Birthday Parties - Can I bring my own food for the adults?

You are welcome to bring a birthday cake, but we don’t allow customers to bring their own food or any other extras for the adults. Should you wish to have any extra food for the adults, this will have to be purchased from our Greenway Cafe.

Birthday Parties - Can I bring my own drink?

We do not permit you to bring your own drinks. We have a Snack Stop and Greenway Café, which provide hot and cold drinks. No alcohol is permitted onsite. 

Birthday Parties - How can I secure my date?

You will need to pre-book online and we require your payment upfront to secure your booking.

Birthday Parties - How can I book?

Birthday Parties - Can I decorate the barn?

You are more than welcome to decorate the barn with large helium balloons and other decorations, however, we don’t allow loose balloons that sit on the floor as these can blow out of the room and potentially end up in the animal’s enclosures. 

Can I make changes to my booking once made?

Please email info@standalonefarm.com at least one week before your booking, along with your reference number, so that we can review the booking and make any required changes. Please note that any required changes given with less than one weeks’ notice cannot be guaranteed as we need time to order the food, get the party bags ready and the room setup.

Can I purchase additional spaces afterwards?

If you require additional spaces to be added to your booking, please email info@standalonefarm.com, quoting your booking reference as well as the adjustments and we will be in touch.

Please note that all party children need to be confirmed a week before the booking and that the room has a capacity of 60 people. We can also take payment for additional adults on the day.
