Learning about Nature: Gardening for Wildlife

This presentation supports adults in helping children develop a connection with the natural world including the benefits to wellbeing and the need for all generations to value and protect nature for the future. 

This talk covers an introduction to the state of nature today and actions we can take including: 

  • how to attract a wide range of animals from bees and butterflies, to birds and hedgehogs
  • the importance of considering the whole food web
  • how to construct a small pond or create a wildflower meadow
  • gardening habits to avoid

 

Speaker Biography: Claire Robinson has 30 years’ teaching experience both in primary schools and as Head of Education for London and Whipsnade Zoos where she has provided workshops for all ages, including adults.  She has also worked for the Herts and Middlesex Wildlife Trust creating and delivering talks on wildlife and conservation, which she now continues to do as a volunteer.
